Background Information
In collaboration with the British
Council, NAHT and VVOB we now have head teacher professional standards awaiting the
approval of REB and MINEDUC top leaders. The standards make clear the
professional knowledge and professional practice of head teachers required to
be effective leaders of learning and teaching in schools.
The main uses of head teacher professional standards...
The main
uses of head teacher professional standards will be among others providing
basis for preparing, certifying, recruiting, developing and assessing the
performance of school leaders.
Sharing with experts
For the content of head teacher professional
standards to be meaningful, acceptable, owned by the intended users and easily
implemented in all our schools, expert school leaders who have already
implemented similar standards in their education system must share with our
school leaders/the intended users on the suitability and implementation of
those standards.
Day Two has started with two nice questions...
- What was the best of most useful bit for you?
- What do you want more of?

Standard 2: Leading Learning
The role of a school leader is to ensure that all students learn effectively. This necessitates setting high expectations for all students and, by implication, all staff members. Creating a positive and safe learning environment and culture is fundamental to the role of the school leader.
